I'm Published in Scrapbook News & Reviews Magazine!

Hi everyone! I've never submitted my projects to any publication except back in 2005 when my friend Heather begged me to submit to Somerset Studio for their Paris issue. She was submitting and felt that if we did it together, we might actually go thru with it. I sent one small ATC in from Paris, and voila, they published me! I was thrilled--and still have the magazine on my bookshelf....although I admit, I had forgotten about it till recently.
I was published in Altered Words--but this was by chance--the editor saw one of my Altered Books I had made from a license plate and rivets (I love to work with metals in my altered books) back in 2005!
Then another friend asked me to submit to SNR--and since I won a subscription to them earlier this year, I thought okay-why not? I submitted one card, and three layouts. I received a letter saying they were going to publish my card--so I was like wow--cool! Then I received emails my scrapbook layouts were being published! Can you believe it? My second time ever submitting to any publication, and all my projects were being published! This just goes to show you my dear creative friends and readers--if I can do it, YOU most certainly can do it!
My first layout is called Underwear Hero and is published under In Style: Boyish Charms--it of course is a layout I did for my two dear boys--I read to them each night, and Captain Underpants was, of course, a shoe-in for favorite book character!
My second layout is called Live Simply and is published under In Style: Clean and Simple--it is of course another page for my dear boys--based on my favorite song Simple Man by Lynard Skynard--and it is my deepest desires for them--in each small envelope on the bottom are my desires for them--written in note form to each of them. The distressed tag booklet at the top has the song lyrics--I have a video showing how to do each of the distress techniques on this layout.
My last layout is called My Journey and is published under In Style: Pretty Chic & Vintage and is the first page of a book I'm doing for my boys about me--as a person.
The card I had published is called Happy Halloween and is published under Cards: Paragraphs--and features one of the doodle and cut freebie files I gave out featuring a black cat on pumpkin with Cri-Kit gel pens on the sentiment.

Will I submit again? I have no idea---it hasnt crossed my mind again...yet! I thank the dear Lord that he sends others to encourage us, even when we don't know we may be in store for a blessing!

All the Cricky best,
Kandrew

Boys will be Boys: Play Ball, Sport because you're #1!!!

I just absolutely ADORE the newest cartridge from Memory Miser, Boys will be Boys! This has to be my FAVORITE cricut cartridge so far! I think I could scrap for a full month and never run out of love or ideas using this cartridge! It's extremely VERSATILE--and I love that (my pocketbook does too--hahah).
I will be featuring projects for the next TWO weeks using this awesome cartridge!!!  So if you have this cartridge GET it out--because we are going to get some AWESOME projects made with it! If you don't, I think this is one is a must--especially if you have ANY children!
I can't wait to see what lucky girl or guy wins our Fall Challenge and gets this Boys will be Boys cartridge FREE! You still have till the end of the month to play--so get cracking!
I have some cool news about the Cricky Cricut Challenge coming up!
Okay so onto my ADORABLE card! I absolutely LOVE this little girl! Isn't she the cutest???? I decided to add a bow to her--but you could leave off the bow and have a super cute BOY card! This cart defintily isn't all for boys--theres lots of ways to bend this cartridge to make some super creative projects!
Note: If you do NOT have a gypsy, just place a smaller square card behind the mitt, to give the appearance of a shaped card--still looks good and works great!

Ingredients to hit a home run with this card:
Boys will be Boys Cartridge
Gypsy (Use your gypsy to weld the two mitts together to make a shaped card)
White, brown, red, and blue cardstocks
Black pen, white signo pen for eyes (or use a face stamp)
Red swiss dot bow (optional--if making a girl baseball)

Tea for You and Tea for Me! A bit of Whimsy for Monday, Monday!

Tea Time Panda Bear!
Hi all my creative bloggie friends and readers!! I don't know about you, but I am SO lazy sometimes about getting started on a cartridge! I've had the pagoda cartridge for several weeks and haven't made a thing with it! Then I got this beautiful ribbon, and voila--an idea struck~this ribbon has an orient vibe to me.....
Isnt this little girly panda the cutest? I mean it's only proper that a panda bear would definitly be drinking hot tea and from a VERY cute teapot at that! When I was in Japan, lots of characters drank tea and ate little decorative rice cakes and sushi! You would even find fabric printed with fun little characters doing all sorts of things--riding bicycles, baking cakes, working in a tea shop, etc.....I loved Japan--it is a fabulous place full of whimsy!
I made this cutie (don't you just love her hair-bow) using the Pagoda cart. I think she's falling asleep from too much tea--sigh--time for a nap!
Dimensions as follows:
Cherry Blossom on page 55 at 6" (I cut the very top off of this blossom for my card)
Panda 3.5" on page 36
Tea pot and cut at 2.5" on page 67

Ingredients for this card:Pagoda Cartridge
Jeweled Black ribbon from Renaissance Ribbons
Small red rhinestones
Zig paint pen (silver/gold dual tip)
Green, Red, Pink, Black, White cardstocks
White signo pen to highlight sleepy eyes

I hope your Monday is off to a fabulous start--and that you enjoy a bit of joyful whimsy today--grab a tea or coffee and take one minute for yourself today--one minute to do something for yourself--whether it be a cup of tea, a nice daydream, or a small indulgence (can we say ribbon--you know that would totally be mine)!

all the cricky best,
kandrew

A Glimpse Into My Scrap Room

As soon as you open the door, there is my 8ft long table, my paper rack, mirror, and clip it up system

One wall of floor to ceiling storage (there are several rows of shelves and drawers below)

One wall of the white cube type storage

My built in desk (it has cabinets underneath) my desk

Hi guys! I've had a few requests for you to see my scrapbook room. I have people wanting to know how big it is! I made a video, and maybe I can get that posted at some point if youtube will cooperate! It's uploading now!
I'm kind of a modest person, so I'm kind of embarassed to post the pics (I dont' mind sharing, just feel dumb doing so). I hope this helps someone with their room in some way.
Here a couple of pics!
It's just my humble little abode where I create. I did have someone ask for the exact dimensions--my hubby said 10x18--maybe a bit bigger.
Enjoy!

Video if you are bored out of your mind and want to watch this nuttiness! lol

Henry the Desktop Vacuum: Your Host Jasper PERSONAL

HENRY the Desktop Vac

Hi guys--my hubby bought me one of those Sony bloggies--so Jasper decided he wanted to make a video demoing his new Henry Desktop Vacuum. My son has Aspergers, a form of Autism. He has high intelligence, but like many Asperger children, he focuses in on certain things--one of them is VACUUMS. We have loved these machines since Jasper was 2. Other kids run to the toy aisle, my son runs to the vacuum aisle!
We waited 2 weeks for this to come all the way from the United Kingdom--and it has finally arrived!
Enjoy!
If you will, go leave him a comment on Youtube--he is so excited about his new vac!

Cream mulberry flowers (one small, one medium)
2 Brown Buttons
Mustard Grosgrain Ribbon for Bow
Brown Scalloped Trim (on sides of brown cardstock in middle)

**to make a rosette from lace, simply gather it with your fingers, and glue with glue gun--easy peasy I promise!****

How to download Gypsy Files to your Gypsy:
1.) Connect your gypsy to your computer with the usb cord, turn gypsy on. Then on your computer,  open Gypsy Sync.

2.) Once the Gypsy Sync Program --it will try finding an update, but if you are all updated, then it will say no update found. Then it will open up the blank window that says Gypsy--here you will see a folder called Designs--this is where all of your gypsy designs you have saved are. Minimize this screen
3.)  Download the desired gypsy files from my blog--note. You must have the Thanksgiving Cartridge to use this gypsy file!
4.) Save this file to your Gypsy Sync folder (you should have a folder where you save your gypsy files)
5.) Once the file is saved, maximize the Gypsy Sync Screen and now you will see your new file  and it will be saved in the list. In order to see the new file on the list in your Gypsy, you may have to power your Gypsy down and then turn it on again to see the new file added.
6.) If you do not see the file in the list, click on the "Upload Files to Gypsy" button located on the bottom lower-left of the Gypsy Sync screen on your computer. Choose the file you would like to upload from the list by clicking it once to begin the upload.

Fall Favor Treat Containers: Thanksgiving Cricut Cartridge, Giveaway

Fall Favors for Your Fall Table Scape

I absolutely LOVE to decorate my table for any season! I love creating a table scape complete with each place setting have something "special". This month I'm working ahead to create beautiful Fall favor pails to place on each place setting cup (I turn the cup upside down)! These Fall Favor Pails can hold candy, small gifts, a recipe to exchange, anything your heart desires!
How are they made? EASY PEASY! Just use a small peat pot that is sold in the Garden Center--they come in about a pack of 20!
Simply add a ribbon handle, and decorate your front of your peat pot (you can even paint these if desired). I chose to use my new THANKSGIVING cartridge!
I also chose to fill mine with Curled Raffia--to soften the inside! How do you make CURLY RAFFIA? Well you simply soak your raffia, wrap it around small wooden dowel rods, and bake in the oven till dry at 200degrees!
Come back tomorrow because I'll have another project created with the THANKSGIVNG cartridge!

GIVEAWAY--Leave me a comment, and I'll choose one follower who comments to receive some CURLED Raffia!!
Ingredients: Small Peat Pots (Brown paperish pots used to start seeds)
Curled Raffia (how to above)
Ribbons
Eyelets
Felt Flowers
