Simply Sunday Challenge: Retro Daddy!!! Father's Day Cartridge

Father's Day Cartridge: Giveaway Prize

Hi everyone! I hope each of you are having a blessed and awesome Sunday! Ever notice the best things happen on Sunday?! It's a time of rest, recuperation, and enjoyment. Sports games, sales, time with family, long naps.....
I want to welcome you to another Simply Sunday Challenge. I've decided at this time, since I only had 2 design team members to move the challenges to every other week. I decided that because I didn't want my two sweet girls having a committment every single week. They were awesome--and willing to do each week, but I want their experience to be nothing but amazing, and I think giving people more is always best. We have decided to add to our team, so there may be a time soon, where it goes back to once a week and we rotate.
Now....we all know how important our fathers are, whether they be earthly, biological, happily placed, or heavenly. We also know men are special creatures God created; they are often very different than women. Usually men are simple at heart, if you pay attention, it usually is easy to see what they like. My father is no exception. He is a simple man, and by that I mean that in the VERY highest way possible. A simple man is my dream for my two young boys, and if you've ever heard this song by Lynard Skynard you will be able to see why. I even made a layout that was published called Live Simpy that focused on this song, and my dreams for my two young boys; I wrote my wish for them in a small letter and placed them in envelopes in the layout. You can see that layout right here below and listen to the song, if you desire. You can just hit play and then scroll down to see all the rest of the post/projects.
A simple kind of man, woman, person, that's my ideal person. I think it's a good thing to appreciate the simpleness in not only our fathers, but to instill in our young children. Being simple is amazing to me, and it's something that takes CARE and EFFORT to be. Live simply, dont' collect excess, always tell the truth, follow your heart, live your dreams, treat others with kindness, respect your parents even if you don't always agree with them, take time with your family, spend time with your children, smile at those you meet, say hello, be a person of your word, don't be selfish or greedy, focus more on others than yourself. Kind of simple isn't it? Why do we make it so difficult? Im not sure, but if you really STOP and think about living your life simply--it will take effort, but you will be happiest in your life you have ever been. It's like finding yourself as a child again.

I'd love to say more, but I need to get this challenge on the road! I have some wonderful projects my DT has created. I also have a video tutorial for you on my very simple card. I invite  you to play along in the challenge with any project you want to create using ANY materials you want. I do NOT work for and am not endorsed by PROVOCRAFT, so you do not ever have to use a cricut cartridge if you don't have it or don't want to. You can use ANYTHING you want. I just happen to love my Cricuts and my new Sillouhette, and my stamps, and my markers, and my embellishments, and my inks, and well....pretty much anything crafty!!! Have a blessed and simple day thinking about what it means to Live Simply....slowing down to the speed of LIFE. As always, remember, I'm praying for you and rooting for you! Create something beautiful to your soul today!

And yes, DT, you gals are AWESOME! :) I'm sorry to see that you'll be only doing projects every other week, but it's for the best! I'll look forward to when you guys come back weekly.

  2. How inspiring and fun!! I was so excited to start making Father's Day cards when my oldest son was born, for I did not have a Dad to send a card to. He (my Dad) chose his new family over my sister and I, so I have struggled for quiet some time but have finally accepted that he (Dad) is missing out on his daughters lives as well as his grandkids. We have not burned the bridge, but I must admit there is a troll under it ;0). So I am making a card for my Husband to thank him for being a wonderful Dad and Husband!

  17. OK, so I just now got the chance to watch your video and I have to confess that this was my first video at your site but definitely won't be the last one I watch :O). You are so sweet and your laughter is so contagious. I really like the story about the nervous laugh. The same thing happens here with my fiance. He once laughed in front of a judge when he was a teenager and had gotten into a little tiff of trouble. The judge didn't laugh back though....LOL!
    TFS and until next time.

I love your connection between Skynyrd's Simple Man and living simply...one of our favorite songs from one of our favorite bands and a great philosophy. Love the idea of your layout and think it turned out great !

  29. Thanks for your message. We do need to live simply and focus on what's important. It's so easy to get caught up in the whole "bigger and better" race - and yet none of that will bring us joy. In fact, I get downright miserable when I'm wrapped up in that!
Thanks for posting the song, too. I haven't heard that in ages!
What great projects by the entire design team (including you, Kristal!)! I always love to see the various takes on a challenge!
